About Pnina

Pnina Blake began her musical studies in Toronto where she received her Associate in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music. After moving to the Niagara region she continued in her musical studies at Brock University and also branched into composition, studying with the eminent composer Srul Irving Glick and with Professor Ronald Tremain and Professor Peter Landey. An accomplished singer, she has performed with the Canadian Opera Company and many local choirs. She enjoys doing recitals in Toronto and the Niagara region.
Her CD, The Heart Sings, is a warm rendition of classic and original songs from the Yiddish, Hebrew and Sephardic traditions. New composing ventures have found Pnina delving into the realm of choral music. Candles are Dancing won first place in its category in the prestigious Amadeus Christmas and Chanukah Song Writing Competition and has been recorded by the Niagara Vocal Ensemble on its CD, A Niagara Noel.
Writing more choral music is a particular interest of Pnina. She understands this music both as a composer and a performer, for she has been a chorister in ensembles both large and small and also directs two choirs, the choirs of the Unitarian Congregation of Niagara and of Congregation B’nai Israel in St. Catharines, Ontario.
